Earliness, Yield & Uniformity

Selecting the correct crop cover and using it effectively can significantly improve the economics of a harvest. Covertan has been proven to do this for over 20 years.

Covertan 17 (17gsm)

Covertan 17 (17gsm) ►

Covertan 17 is our benchmark product. With 17g per square meter, it is the lightest of our range. Thick filaments and isotropic distribution give it a good air and water permeablity and a very good mechanical strength. This permeability effect combined with windbreaks creates a micro-climate that enhances crop growth. Covertan 17 is available in various standard and customised widths to suit all fields.

Covertan 19 (19gsm)

Covertan 19 (19gsm) ►

Covertan 19 has increased mechanical resistance and more durability  compared to Covertan 17. It is recommended for more sensitive crops or difficult climatic conditions needing more thermal protection.

Covertan 22 (22gsm)

Covertan 22 (22gsm) ►

Covertan 22 is a heavy weight general purpose crop cover. Additional material improves the physical strength and robustness during installation and use. Both the thermal insulation and abrasion resistance also improve, resulting in a higher level of protection for demanding crops in demanding environments.

Covertan 30 (30gsm)

Covertan 30 (30gsm) ►

Covertan 30 has been specially designed for winter protection of crops. With its heavy weight, 30 Covertan protects damage from frost and snow. Selected permeabilty manages airflow and can reduce the impact of sudden changes in temperature. This helps avoid excessive dehydration in plants during overwintering.

Covertan 60 (60gsm)

Covertan 60 (60gsm) ►

Designed to protect plants in containers or saplings Covertan 60 is the thickest and strongest fleece in our range. Its heavy weight (60 g / m²) makes it a very effective windbreak that protects plants exposed and maintains good thermicity. It can be used in extreme climatic conditions.

Quality of the harvest

The microclimate created by the veil optimizes the conditions for photosynthesis. Crops covered can mature 1-3 weeks earlier than an uncovered control. There are variations depending on the species, times and production techniques.

Specific benefits include

 • Accelerating the establishment of growth

 • Shortening the crop cycle and faster crop rotation

 • Enhanced commercial performance due to the regularity and homogeneity of crops.

 • Crop size is increased

 • Crop waste is reduced

 • Risks to harvest of certain crops are reduced.
